Jacob Arcadelt, a distinguished musician, teacher and composer is noted for his madrigals (Venice, 1538-1556) and masses (Paris, 1557). This arrangement of "Ave Maria" for four tubas was transcribed by James Self. Dr. James Self is the Principal Tuba/Cimbasso for the Pasadena and Pacific Symphonies, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Los Angeles Opera and Opera Pacific orchestra and teaches tuba and chamber music at the University of Souther California.
