Born around 1680, Louis De Caix D'Hervelois is still largely a man of mystery in the music world. No one really knows much about him, except that he has made a contribution of at least 8 published pieces that are and still being performed today. This sheet music folio carries 2 of his minuets that have been arranged for a brass quartet. These arrangements, by Philippe Rougeron, have been imported from Paris, France because we have found this to be the best version available in print today.

These 16 "Solos For The Trombone Player" were selected and edited by Henry C. Smith. Since most recent composers have written little for solo trombone, several transcriptions and some original works are included in this volume. All but oneof the works include piano accompaniment. "Elegy for Mippy II", composed by Leonard Bernstein, is intended for trombone alone. | | |
